NCC

Mission:

• Our mission is to develop students with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. We stress the total development of each student in  moral, intellectual, social, emotional and physical.

Aims and objectives of N.C.C.

• To Develop Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership, Secular Outlook, Spirit of Adventure, and Ideals of Selfless Service amongst the Youth of the Country.

• NCCaims to create a pool of trained, organized and motivated youth with various leadership qualities in every walk of their live and serve the Nation irrespective of career they choose.

• National Cadets Corps also provide a sound environment conductive towards motivating large numbers of young people of India to join armed forces.

N.C.C.MOTTO

• The motto of NCC is ‘Unity & Discipline’ which was adopted on 12 Oct 1980 (Twelth CAC Meeting). In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and molding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.

N.C.C. FLAG

• The NCC flag for various units of the NCC was first introduced in 1951. The flag was of same pattern, colour and size as was used by various regiments of the Army. The only difference was that it had the NCC badge and unit designation placed in the centre. Later on it was felt that the flag should be in keeping with the inter-service character of the Corps. In 1954 the existing tri-colour flag was introduced. The three colours in the flag depict the three services of the Corps, red for the Army, deep blue for the Navy and light blue for the Air Force. The letters NCC and the NCC crest in gold in the middle of the flag encircled by a wreath of lotus, give the flag a colourful look and a distinct identity.

Core Values

• The NCC is a responsive, learning and continuously evolving organization. Its activity is guided by certain core values that we endeavour to instill among all ranks of the NCC. These include the following:

(a) A sense of patriotic commitment to encourage cadets to contribute to national development.

(b) Respect for diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, life style and habitat to instill a sense of National unity and social cohesion.

(c) Abiding commitment to learn and adhere to the norms and values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

(d) Understanding the value of a just and impartial exercise of authority.

(e) Ability to participate in community development and other social programme.

(f) A healthy life style free of substance abuse and other unhealthy practices.

(g) Sensitivity to the needs of poor and socially disadvantaged fellow citizens.

(h) Inculcating habits of restraint and self-awareness.

(j) Understanding the values of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance and hard work.

(k) Respect for knowledge, wisdom and the power of ideas.

MAHARASHTRA ARMY UNIT N.C.C.

The NCC has its genesis in the “University Corps,” which was created under the Indian Defense Act, 1917 with the object to make up the shortages of the Army. In 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was passed, the “University Corps” was replaced by the University Training Corps (UTC). In 1942, the UTC was renamed as the University Officers’ Training Corps (UOTC). The need to create a youth organisation at National level to train the young boys and girls to be better citizens and future leaders of our country in all walks of life, including defense forces, was rightly realised by our leaders. A Committee under Pandit HN Kunzru was set up in 1946 at the behest of our first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.National Cadet Corps came into existence from 15-07-1948 under National Cadet Corps Act (No. XXXI of 1948) enacted by Parliament by the recommendations of Kunzuru committee
