MOTTO

Motto of the Women Development Cell of our college: Educate gender equality, Encourage and Empower. The Women’s Development Cell (WDC) is a statutory body for the prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women. The main objective of WDC is to look into the grievances of teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students, especially in cases of gender discrimination.
The formation of a college level Women Development Cell was made mandatory by the University of Mumbai after the Vishakha Judgment in the year 2001. In compliance of this mandate of the University, the Women Development Cell was established in our college in the year2003. From 2017, separate Internal Complaints Committee has been established for prevention of and action against sexual harassment of women at workplace. As per 2011 census of Maharashtra, Konkan region, in particular Sindhudurg district shows healthy sex ratio with 1037 females per thousand males. This has been well reflected in girl-student strength of our college. Hence, role of our women development cell has become crucial. The cell is working with the following objectives.

OBJECTIVES

1. To boost the self confidence of young ladies.

2. To promote general well-being of female students, teaching and non- teaching staff of the college.

3. Organizing guest lecturers to enhance awareness of rights, safety and health care.

4. To create social awareness about the problems of women in general and gender discrimination in particular among both girls and boys students of the college.

5. To assert the importance of economic, social, racial and gender equality.

Our institution provides facilities like the surveillance systems with a set of CCTV cameras is installed in the premises, ladies common room,suggestion box is kept in the ladies room to receive complaints and suggestions related to the needs of girl students, sanitary napkins vending machine facility is available in the ladies washroom, FIRST-AID Box is available in the college, separate washrooms are available on every floor.

Our institute also ensures safety and security of the girl students through, Identity Cards issued to all the students, teachers and the non-teaching staff, the institution as well as the faculty assure safety and security of the girl students, the discipline committee headed by a senior faculty continuously monitors the security practices in the campus, Patrolling van of the local police called Damini Pathak periodically visits the campus for the prevention of offensive activities.
